My son was at VAPAC the first day. There were teachers. He didn't know if they were subs or permanent. There was even a band teacher. He said there were students I didn't grill him about how many. He's now at McClatchy, and I feel fortunate that he got in. At least a half dozen seniors from the band are there or trying to get in that I know of.

My son is now at Rosemont where he saw a lot of his friends as well as many former teachers (Zungri, Kapp, Sosa, etc.)

The fact that Stratton left should have been a wakeup call to anyone who still allows their kid to attend that place. When the number one supporter switches sides, there's a problem!

There's a VAPAC. Who the heck is left? Is it a county charter or...?

No it's not a county charter. They failed to meet the deadline to correct all the deficiencies. It may become a county charter next fall if they meet the county's demands. Arbatel had to post the vacancies through the district.

Ms. DLC is back at the school this year, and evidently they have about 200 new 7th graders, but most of their senior class has left for other schools.

No, more like 60 or less. They are combining 7th and 8th graders in order to get enough students to put in a class. Then there is the problem of credentialed teachers... well, that's nothing new.

I encourage parents to go sit in on the classes. They have that right.

Has anyone thought about contacting the Bee or News and Review? Maybe hey would love to jump on a story about a school filled with all uncredentialed staff--including the son who likes to pretend that he is really a Principal even though he only has a Bachelor's degree!

It doesn't seem that the bee is interested in publishing an article about what's really going on at vapac, if you scroll down you can see links to articles from earlier this year.

Interesting, the district posted a position for principal at VAPAC today. Since Arbatel is qualified without the appropriate credentials, I encourage all interested parties to apply. Maybe you too can finagle a sweet benefits package for yourself as well.

So,I went on a tour at vapac with "the MOTHER". I have no interest in ever even thinking about sending my child there. I just wanted to hear for myself what lies they continue to tell people. Actually, I go every year and use a different name.

Anyway, I learned that VAPAC has been awarded many, many special awards for their top notch school and that the DLC's have been awarded high honors and awards for their hard work. Also stated on the tour was the fact they have a very close and special working relationship with Juilliard. It was stated that a "large number of vapac students" were attending there and that Juilliard had iniated the "VAPAC/Juilliard partnership".

Humm....after exploring this with admissions at Juilliard, seems they have neverheard of a vapac and are concerned why their name is being used.

Are we surprised?

Well, back to the question of mental health issues!

These special relationships with institutions are touted by many programs across the nation. It is not unusual for the claim to be less than advertised. Kudos to "A" for actually checking out the claim. I do know of one program in the area that actually has the ties it claims to have, Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep, over in Natomas. It's staffed by the teachers, principal and counselor that used to be the School of Law and Public Service at the Sac High Charter. As the name implies, it has a firm and lasting relationship with The University of the Pacific and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. They've got a web-site, lawschoolbus.com. See for yourself what real partnership is like.

Arbitron and mommy couldn't even spell Julie-ard. Be real-the son and mom team have killed a once fine brand name started by Thea Stidum and Mary Perez. It was handed to Joanna and she likes the paycheck so why not?

Small school sare the way to go. just make sure they actually work. Tour and sit in on classes. Talk is cheap-see the school in flight then you get the picture.

My nephew went over and visited the school before it first opened. He'd been enrolled at LPS at Sac High for his freshman and sophmore years, and wanted to make sure the same people were there. They are all there. He was over at Light House Golf Club the other week for PE class. Can you imagine? Light House for PE? That's on top of the great teachers.

I know what you mean. They had Report Card Night last week and all of the teachers were there. Every single one! When did that ever happen at your school?

I take it that you are NOT talking about vapac.

VAPAC. Why would spend time on that subject? Let's discuss exciting things, like Natomas Pacific.
